Developing Strength to Let Go

Welcome to a new week and a new conscious dance theme!  While this is our local theme for our dance - you may want to try it on for size whether you dance with us or not!  Take it or leave it - u are ALWAYS at choice. 

In order to build strength, we have to start somewhere.  If we want to bench press 100 lbs but have never trained before - it would be silly to run into a gym and jump right up to 100.  Not just silly but dangerous.  

The smarter approach would be to start with 5 or 10 lbs and work on building both our strength and our confidence in our strength and abilities to lift more and more weight.  

It is the same when it comes to practicing being in our emotions and emotional body.   

First, pls know that our bodies are constantly taking on the energy around us. This is what becomes our “emotions” - energy in motion.  Generally in our culture we are not taught how to process our “energy in motion- emotions” so as to integrate, dissolve it dissipate them.  In that case, that energy simply gets stored in our bodies. 

As more energy gets stored- the mental mind/psyche feels overwhelmed by the sheet amount of energy it feels in the body.  It can freak out and say something like “feeling my emotions feels WAY TOO BIG OR TOO MUCH OR TOO SCARY”.  So the psyche shuts the lid to the energy it feels (thru addictions, numbing out, overworking, over busy, screen time).

It can be darn right dangerous to the nervous system and psyche to drop into a meditation and say “okay I am ready to feel whatever is there.  Bring it on!” without ever having built up the strength to feel the emotions that are stored in our body.   

And without a way to actually MOOOOVE that energy of the E-Motions.

However, if we start small by letting go of a little emotion to be felt equivalent to the amount of emotional strength we have in order to “work out” this emotion - then we can build our strength to “work out” more and more emotion.  

And if we allow ourselves to be in a safe space to let go of that energy and MOOVE it instead of sitting in it and trying to mooove it - then we will build the confidence and strength to do more and more.
