As our precious land continues to burn – and forecasts says the current fires won’t be contained till early September (!!) – I was reminded lately on my travels of the Southwest that we do have the power to call in rain.
Let us join together this coming week – and for as long as it takes – to call in the rain with our dancing, our prayers, our intentions and our music.
Let the call for rain be one that would be with grace and ease – so that the Earth would drink to Her Heart’s content – while not being at risk for mudslides nor so much growth that there is more fuel for the fire.
Even if you cannot join us, would you please consider bringing this intention into any of your dances??
Pour your “Rain Prayers” into our Community Altar this Thursday!
Part of the desire with MMD is that this will become a place less about the DJ/Guest DJs & Hosts and a place to get to know our Community Members on a deeper level. By allowing space to practice this, we also get to practice this Community Ethos:
“None of us can claim we are special or unique based on the skills/gifts we have been given. It is what we do with our gifts & skills that matter.”
Here is an invitation that allows us to engage in this:
Join our Community Guide* – Lauren B. Jieye – in co-creating our Altar and intention this week.
1) Gather some water from your home, beach, location.
2) Speak your prayer/intention over & into this vile of water
3) At dance, pour your intention into our community collection on the altar.
4) As our closing this week, we will pray over this collected water and then pour it over the land.
