"Sloppy Wet Kisses"

I’m stealing this phrase from David Crowder Band and what I believe to be quite easily the best worship song of our time…How He Loves. If you haven’t heard this song…go take a listen at iTunes to know what you’re missing!

My point this morning is to share some of those above joys I mentioned I have received from the boys in the short time they have been home…so that I can read this at the end of the week and remind myself of how much I really do love my boys, even if they do get on nerves I don’t even have anymore!
* DLS2 (dear little son 2nd born) is now a few short months away from turning 3…and when you don’t get to see a child of this age every day…you become amazed at the progression in speech and mannerisms they achieve in the few days in between seeing them.  He is speaking so much clearer, shaking his little finger to make his point…telling his brother as we all cuddle in bed together to “be quiet Balor and go to sleep…”

* Getting lots of cuddle time…especially with DLS2 as he and I both have the love language of physical touch.  My arms just can’t get enough of hugging these boys in big bear hugs that probably keep them from breathing normally…of planting kisses on their heads, and plump cheeks and little noses…and telling them how important they are to me and God.

* Some of this cuddle time happened last night as one sat on either side of me and we read yet another Thomas the Tank Engine book and I miserably failed at trying to make the voices just right as I read…but that’s the great thing about kiddos…they don’t know and don’t care about my inabilities to act for them :-).  They are just happy to be in your presence and you in theirs.

* Laying right next to your child as they one fall asleep…oh how sweet that is!  Nothing better than watching your children sleep…something so pure and peaceful about it.

* DLS1 – 5.5 years old now – is getting to that age where we can have good conversations.  While he disobeys more than obeys…we have had some fun conversations lately.  Two weeks ago we got into a discussion about Satan and why he hates God so much.  And today, when he was trying to tell me something, his little mind must have gotten sidetracked and he said after a very long pause of no talking – which Valor will talk all the time if I let him – he says, “what was I saying again?”  It was quite funny at the time.
* Last but not least, is when your kids totally unprompted by you or someone else come up and tell you they love you.  I cannot put into words what this does to a parent’s heart…and I not only got this pleasure from DLS2 last night – but he topped it off with a big, fat, wet and very sloppy kiss (as he is still learning how to kiss) right on my lips – and DLS1 trying to lick me instead of kiss.  It immediately reminded me of DC*B song…and I have to thank God for a visual, physical picture of what this song is trying to paint.

P.S. (post script) As I was just finishing up this post, I noticed DLS2 grunting and I asked him if he was doing his business.  “Yes.  You’ll need to change it soon,” was his reply…one of the many other “joys” of motherhood. Please pray he learns to use the toilet soon.

Blessings in the Lord for a glorious day ahead to all of you!
