Why not start off the day with daily movement therapy?
Our bodies are living, breathing temples that are meant to move. Feelings that are not moved into the Emoting part of EMOtions get stuck, lodged and trapped in the body – creating a recipe for dis-ease of the worst kinds.
Personally, the more I practice my Movement Devotional daily, the more I realize that our feelings are meant to be EXPRESSED in the MOMENT, as they are happening through our body language (including sounds of all sorts!).
The more I practice this Devotional, the more I realize I don’t even have to make logical sense of what is coming through and out of my body – I just need to MOVE IT MOVE IT.
The more I practice this Devotional daily practice, the more “junk in my trunk” I move out of me, the more space I create inside of me. Space for new ways to see the world. Space to see my fellow humans. Space to see my situations with amazing creative insight that wasn’t there before.
The more I practice this Devotional, the more I fall in love with myself and my human experience and reflect this back out to the world.
Why not move out of your body with a
Daily Devotional Movement Practice
what it was never meant to store in the first place?
Here are some tips on how to get going with this:
1) Read yesterday’s quote about one idea of what dance even is. Simply put – it is free form movement that I am talking about practicing…not thinking about it besides simply following the internal thread of what your body wants to do.
2) Clear some space in your home or find a spot outside. Highly suggested you do not place yourself in font of a mirror…let this be an inward journey.
3) Find some music that gets you out of your comfort zone a bit and suggests you move in different ways than you would at a night club or the Zumba class. Click here for my SoundCloud with tons of great music.
4) Start on the floor, perhaps with the Rolling for the Flow exercise, with your eyes closed and just taking a moment to pull your awareness down into your body.
* Find any places that feel a bit more tender or tense.
* Without giving much thought, simply and gently start moving into those places with the intent to bring awareness to their needs.
* Then TRUST your BODY – s/he knows what it needs in order to move whatever is being stored in that place out.
