Rediscovering (Day 21): Judgement revisted

Today’s reading: The last verse of John.  Chapter 21:25
And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.”

I love this.  While we have a full picture of Christ’s life thru the Bible, of why He came and what business He was about here on Earth…there is still so much more that He did even at that time.  Part of these things that Jesus did is actually still being written in your story, in my story.

Going back to my whole attempt not to judge, I think about this: that if Jesus had a specific formula or certain way that He worked in all of our live’s, then there could be a summary written of what that work looked like.  This means there wouldn’t be a need for volumes and volumes and volumes of books – but just one book.  This certainly means that there wouldn’t be so many books that the “world itself could not contain” it.

Yet, this is not what John says.  My thought is that the way Jesus works in all of our lives is completely INDIVIDUALIZED, this is what would give John reason to say “that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.”  So I ask myself again, “Who am I to judge another’s journey with Jesus and the living God?  God LOVES variety and spicing things up…so who am I to say that He has to work this way or that way in your life just because that is how He worked in mine?  What method of Him working – in a formulated way or individually – makes Him bigger and more mysterious?  What method elicits more adoration from me?”
